Looking for Guest Authors

Today I begin my search for guest authors who will fill the blog with content.  As I have mentioned in previous posts I am giving this blog to the community I love. It is my intention that the "My Perdido" site serves as a conduit for valuable information to our visitors and residents alike.  I envision a place on the Internet where folks will come to find out the whimsical and serious, be entertained and enlightened, learn about news  and politics, and seek information pertaining to subjects from community events to restaurant menus, from rumors to recipes or hurricane routes to tips on tossing mullet.

To make all this possible I need a wide range of guest authors who are willing to spend a few minutes every few days or few weeks posting to the blog.  I will teach you all you need to know about blogging.  It is as simple as typing with a few simple additions to get it to the Internet. I am sponsoring the blog (read"paying for") so I will be responsible for content.  I will not censor but filter the entries to avoid offending and insuring we never go above a PG rating so the blog remains family friendly.  Remember this is a community bulletin board so to speak, not a forum for he said/she said or an us vs. them platform.  Comments are welcome and encouraged but understand you can always start your own blog if you want to step out of the bounds of this one.

Look for invitations then if you are one of the "usual suspects" from the Perdido Key area.  If you are one that is steeped in the everyday life of the Key I will probably be asking you to jot down a few notes to fill this blog with content as I described. If you don't get an invitation drop me an email pking@resortquest.com and I will tell you why.  It probably goes to blog policy or keeping the number manageable or maybe my oversight so don't hesitate if you are interested.

Look for the great stuff that will soon be posted from our bullpen of contributors.

I started this blog as a service to the community I call home.  I did not grow up here, that is a story for a different time, but moved here permanently in 2003 .  I had been coming and going since 1968 when I came to Pensacola Naval Air Station for the first time as a midshipman from the U.S. Naval Academy.  Now as an ex-Naval aviator, retired airline pilot turned real estate professional I want all those who live near, work near and love Perdido Key and the surrounding areas to have a forum. I hope this will be the place you come for the local news, recipes, announcements of special events and just opinions from the folks around the "Key".  I want the Community Center, the Chamber, local Escambia County Commissioner, businesses, condo associations, parks people, you name it, to chime in when the feeling strikes.  I look for lots of response to the posts and will endeavor to encourage the usual suspects and the widest variety of "locals" to put in their 2 cents worth and provide real news and information for all of us.

So here is an open invitation to join in the fun.  I will sponsor (read "pay for") the blog and the hosting services so I will be responsible for content.  I will chose what is appropriate in my judgment.  Posts and other information should be about Perdido Key and the close surrounding area and about what affects our little slice of paradise.  I will chose additional bloggers from the folks like I mentioned above and encourage them to post every week at minimum and will filter if necessary for appropriate language, political correctness etc so as not to allow offensive material to appear.  I will not be a censor but a filter since I am responsible.  Blogs are easy to start if someone wants to offer information or materials I do not want posted on this Blog.  Guest Bloggers will have a side bar link so you can come back often and see what is happenin' at the Perdido Bay Community Center for instance or what Gene Valentino has to say about an issue before the Escambia Count Commission just by clicking on his corner of the MyPerdido Blog.

I have started a blog from Perdio Key for all my friends and clients.  I am hoping to offer this as a forum to everyone across the Key as a way to share thougthts, ideas, dreams, and anything else that can improve our way of life and our stewardship on this littel slice of paradise.  Welcome.
