The National Shrimp Festival is still more than a month out, but organizers and other Shrimp Festival movers and shakers will be part of the 15th annual Shrimp Festival Golf Tournament at 12:30 p.m. today at Peninsula Golf and Racquet Club, 20 Peninsula Blvd., Gulf Shores, Ala.
Proceeds from this tournament will benefit the Alabama Gulf Coast Area Educational Foundation for scholarships for local graduating seniors. Details: (251) 968-8009.
Country Current
At 3 p.m. Sunday, the city of Gulf Shores will present Country Current at the Gulf Shores Civic Center, 1930 W. Second St. Country Current is the United States Navy's country & western and bluegrass band, formed in 1973. The seven-member group is under the direction of Chief Musician Keith M. Arneson, a banjo player.
This is America's premier Navy country band, and the only unit from the major service musical groups specializing in sounds from America's heartland. The band's repertoire includes songs from contemporary country rock as well as traditional bluegrass and western swing.

Drawing in Orange Beach, Ala.
So, you've always wanted to learn how to draw. You can get started from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Orange Beach Art Center, 26389 Canal Road, Orange Beach, Ala. Instructor Zach Baisden will familiarize students with a variety of drawing materials and techniques. Skills covered in this class will include the rendering of contour, foreshortening, perspective, tone and shading.
The class will work form still life setups and projections. Exercises will range from careful and précis to loose and energetic illustrations. Mediums used will include pencil, charcoal and other tools.
